About An Erotic Collection

An Erotic Colllection is a free erotic story web site. The stories most recently published can be found on the New Stories page. In addition to the name of the story, a short description, and the author's pseudonym, the category, date the story was submitted, length of the story in words, vote summary, and language (if not English) are provided to help you choose the stories you wish to read.

The vote summary looks like this: (7.91/34 votes). It only appears on stories where the author allows voting, and only after ten or more votes have been cast for the story. The voting is on a scale of one to ten, with one being terrible and ten being fantastic. If you're interested in voting for one of your favorite stories, you must register first. You do not need to register to read stories. Voting Registration is required in order for An Erotic Collection web site to manage the voting process, and to minimize vote fraud for the authors. Every individual vote, as well as the vote summary, is stored on the web site.

If you're interested in a particular type of story, the Story Categories page lets you select just the stories in a particular category. If you want to see all of the stories by a particular author, as well as his or her biographical information, the Author Browse page provides this information.

If you're an author and you're interested in submitting your stories, first read the Submission Guidelines. You must register as an author before you can submit your first story.

If you've previously registed as a voter, you can use the same psudeonym when you register as an author. If you wish to update your registration, you can click on Revise Author Profile and update your previous registration information.

Once you've registered, you can submit your story. Your story will be reviewed by An Erotic Collection before it is posted on the site. Once your story is posted, it will be listed in the story indexes for readers to find.

All stories on An Erotic Collection are indexed by the title, description, and the full text of the story. Once we have published a sufficient number of stories, a story search page will be developed to make it easier to find the story you're looking for.

One of the benefits of being an author with An Erotic Collection is the story statistics. An example of one story's statistics looks like this:

The author can see at a glance the average vote, total number of votes, total number of times his story was viewed (and hopefully read), and the total number of times his story was viewed by readers that had registered, signed on, and were looking to vote. The individual votes making up the average vote can be seen by clicking on the average vote. Clicking the back key on your browser returns you to the story statistics page.

The author (in this example) can take solace in seeing that only two people thought his story sucked. It's also sad, but true that most people won't vote and give feedback to the author.

An Erotic Collection was created to give authors an outlet for their erotic writing. I started writing erotic stories several years ago, when I found the alt.sex.stories newsgroup on Usenet. I posted maybe twenty stories on alt.sex.stories over a two year period. I had just started writing, and my stories were terrible.

Over time, people clogged the newsgroup, not with spam, but with stories and snippets of stories. It got to the point where various people were posting five to six hundred stories a week, with almost no new stories. About this time, December 2000, I found the Literotica.com © website. Literotica.com © provided me with everything I needed to grow and develop as an erotic author.

Other authors found Literotica.com © as well. It grew and now has over 140,000 stories. (Feel free to check out Literotica.com © if you've never visited the site. You can finish reading this later. :) )

So why did I develop An Erotic Collection? I had trouble finding the stories I was interested in reading. I also felt my stories were getting lost in the shuffle again. I borrowed the good features from Literotica.com ©, and designed this site (hopefully) so that it could grow without losing its focus.
